God’s Word Unbound
The advance of the gospel is often an uphill battle. Hostile ideologies, persecution, and the burdens of life in a fallen world appear to hinder the spread of God’s Word to those who are starving for it.
However, Scripture speaks with clarity when the apostle Paul writes, “… I endure hardship even to chains as a criminal. But the word of God has not been chained” (2 Timothy 2:9 LSB).
God’s Word cannot be restrained—and nowhere is this more evident than in the human heart. His Word always accomplishes what He purposes (Isaiah 55:11).
The more that the world tries to oppose the truth, the more the Lord strengthens His people, and their convictions in His Word are deepened. Ultimately, the world is unable to hinder transformation in the heart of the redeemed.
And from the heart of the redeemed rises a steadfastness to proclaim the truth regardless of circumstances.
Even in chains, the apostle Paul bore witness to this reality. Though imprisoned, the gospel continued to advance, and he remained obedient to preach Christ without compromise (Acts 20–28).
So, we too must be faithful to proclaim it.
